The Role of every Individual in Keeping the Surrounding Clean

Living in greener and cleaner places has always been beneficial for people. The air we breathe, the water we drink and the roads we walk on must be pollution free. Hence, it is important to keep the parks, lawns, roads, etc., near our homes clean at all times. One of the privileges people living in standalone houses enjoy is the luxury of having their own garden and open space. Even though the people residing in the apartments miss such opportunities they can still make the most of what they have, i.e., the green spaces in their neighbourhood.

Keeping the surrounding clean is our moral and social duty and we should attempt to keep our surroundings clean and contribute our bit to the Swachh Bharat campaign.

  • Organize Cleanup Campaigns – Encourage youngsters and elders to be a part of the monthly clean up campaigns that you organize in your neighbourhood. Such campaigns act as an effective reminder to people about the importance of keeping their neighbourhood clean and green. Join the monthly cleanup teams so that you can stay conscious about your contribution towards keeping the locality clean.
  • Recycle Waste Products – Plastics, aluminium and glass are some of the commonly used materials. After using these materials, people tend to dispose of them in the trash which pollutes the environment. The best alternative in such a situation would be to get rid of these materials and start using reusable bags and towel bags.
  • Reduction in Contamination – Toxic materials like polishes, cleansers, pesticides and paints are commonly used at home. These, when stored in the surrounding for too long can lead to contamination and pollution in the neighbourhood. Such toxic materials must be disposed of carefully immediately after use
  • Basic Step is to Stop Littering – One of the most common habits that we all have is to throw garbage around us. If we can control this, then keeping the environment clean will automatically become easier. The best way to put an end to this bad habit is by placing dustbins at every road corner. This needs to come with the assurance that the dustbins will be cleaned by the end of the day.
  • Plant More Trees – This pointer should come naturally to people who wish to keep the environment clean, green and healthy. Trees are the best way to say no to pollution and litter. So encourage kids and elders to plant more trees and water them regularly. It is a great way to maintain the greenery around you.

These small steps will go a long way in keeping our home, street, city and country clean. Our prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi is trying his best to make every Indian proud of his country which would be clean and environmental friendly.
